About the Inquiry Into Child Sexual Abuse
Truth Project

This Inquiry will investigate whether public bodies and other non-state institutions in England and Wales have taken seriously their responsibility to protect children from sexual abuse, and make meaningful recommendations for change in the future. To date, the Inquiry has begun 13 investigations, and work on our core Public Hearings and Research projects also continues at pace.

The Truth Project

The Inquiry’s Truth Project is of fundamental importance to our work, and provides victims and survivors of child sexual abuse with an opportunity to share their experiences with us, without their accounts being tested, challenged or contradicted.

Although we are investigating institutional failures, rather than individual cases of sexual abuse, the experiences of victims and survivors are central to our task. We cannot begin to understand the patterns of institutional failures without hearing from those who suffered as a consequence of those failures. We are working with victims and survivors who want to assist the Inquiry in its work by sharing their experience of sexual abuse.

We very much hope that you will be able to attend the event, when we can discuss these issues in more detail and we can fully update you and answer any questions you may have.

The Inquiry is due to publish an interim report shortly with recommendations to date and will continue to work on final recommendations to reshape safeguarding for future generations.
