Thematic Lessons from Child Practice Reviews, Research and Multi-Agency Inspection Reports in Wales

This online seminar will consider and present key themes and messages from Child Practice Reviews undertaken in Mid and West Wales in recent years, alongside the research undertaken by the National Independent Safeguarding Board, Risk, Response and Review: Multi-Agency Safeguarding, A thematic Analysis Of Child Practice Reviews in Wales. It will also consider key finding from recent national multi-agency inspection reports undertaken in Wales, including the Rapid Review of Child Protection Arrangements in Wales and the Joint inspection of Child Protection Arrangements 2019-2024 (JICPA), undertaken by CIW, Estyn and HIW. The session will consider the implications for multi-agency practitioners and managers in their roles of safeguarding children and facilitate some reflective discussion time.

Facilitators:

Dr Donna Peach - Donna is an experienced Social Worker with a background of 15 years working with children and families in residential settings, field-work and later working at CAFCASS as a children’s guardian. Donna has a PHD and now works as an academic in Salford University, researching child exploitation and adoption.

Dr Holly Gordon - Senior Manager for Safeguarding and Quality Assurance for Children in Powys County Council. Both Dr Donna Peach and Dr Holly Gordon have undertaken key roles as Reviewers and Chairs of Child Practice Reviews in the Mid and West Wales region. 

Target Audience: All Multi-agency Practitioners and Managers working to safeguard children and families. Social Workers, Team Managers, Senior Managers, Health Visitors, Nurses, Midwives, Police Officers, Teachers, Probation Officers, Designated Safeguarding Leads, Third Sector Organisations
